Kostelec nad Černými lesy is an increasingly popular town located in the Prague-East district, just 30 km east of Prague. It is surrounded by beautiful nature and therefore attracts those interested in a healthy lifestyle in a quiet, green location with easy access to Prague and surrounding towns. The town offers full civic amenities and is connected to Prague and surrounding towns by suburban bus lines, and there is also the possibility to use train connections from Říčany (10 minutes to Hostivař) or Český Brod (30 minutes to Masaryk railway station).

 

The Černokostelecko area is called the lungs of Central Bohemia, thanks to the surrounding dense forests and nature reserves. Its inhabitants can beautifully combine life in nature with modern lifestyle. Nearby are, for example, the Voděradské bučiny, popular with mushroom pickers or lovers of long walks, the natural swimming pool at Vyžlovka, the Šembery Valley or Jevansko, where you can go on foot or even by bike. Golf enthusiasts will also enjoy the 18-hole Molitorov golf course near Kostelec.

From Harrachov you can easily reach other mountain localities and sports centres, for example in the Jizera Mountains or on the Polish side of the Giant Mountains with spa towns, thermal baths and aquaparks. In the centre of Harrachov there are also all the necessary amenities including shops, restaurants, medical facilities, sports equipment rentals and cultural activities.

Civic amenities and leisure

Kostelec offers all civic amenities - primary school and kindergarten, general practitioner and pediatrician (less than 1 km from the residence), dentistry (50 m), pharmacy and veterinarian. In the town there are a number of restaurants, a pastry shop, shopping centers Billa (50 m), Penny Market, Drogerie Teta (65 m), Rossmann, florist, hardware store, tire shop (50 m), car service, and of course the Czech Post Office (580 m), and from banks Česká spořitelna and easily accessible ATMs ČS and ČSOB. In addition to the suburban bus service (45 minutes to Prague Háje station, 27 minutes to Říčany, about half an hour to Kolín or Kutná Hora) there is the possibility of using train connections from Říčany (from there only 10 minutes to Hostivař) or Český Brod (30 minutes to Masarykovo nádraží or Kolín).
 
For leisure, there are vast forests that will delight all lovers of tourism, walks and, of course, cyclists. The surrounding forests offer countless adventurous cycling trails, one of which will even take you all the way to Prague to Kolovrat. In addition to the aforementioned golf, there is an outdoor tennis court in Kostelec at Vyžlovka or in the brewery area. There is also a multifunctional hall where all sportsmen can play floorball, basketball or handball, also under the wings of the local Sokol. There is also a bowling alley and a popular gym.

 

Kostelec nad Černými lesy

Kostelec has its own historical centre with a beautiful landmark - Kostelec Castle, which is now the seat of the Faculty of Forestry. The Baroque Church of the Guardian Angels stands on Smiřických Square. The local Pottery Museum recalls the tradition of this town, which has never been burdened by heavier industry. The town also boasts the Černokostelec Brewery, which houses a unique and extensive museum of the history of brewing and malting.
